Located on the 12th floor of the hospital, this laboratory is capable of testing assistive technologies in a typical home setting. It features a single-storey dwelling to facilitate the development of new tools that will help people overcome the challenges they face in their own homes. Research will focus on easing the burden of caregivers and increasing the independence and safety of people with disabilities. An overhead catwalk and suspended grid will enable devices, such as overhead lifts and ceiling-mounted monitoring systems to be tested.
